Sri Peddamma Temple located in the serene atmosphere of Jubilee Hills at Hyderabad is a holy place visited regularly by the people from all over the State. As per the ancestral talk, the temple is over thousand years old. Legend has it that the Goddess – Ammavaru after slaying the demons visited the place to refresh at the well situated here and it is believed that over a thousand years ago a small temple was built in the same place.
It is an age-old tradition that devotees throng the temple during Sundays, Tuesdays and Fridays to offer their prayers to the Goddess through freshly cooked meals at the temple complex as a gesture of faith for their wishes fulfilled. During 1993 the Founder Trustee of the temple Shri P.Janardhana Reddy, the temple has been elevated and spread to accommodate 7 floors height Sanctum Sanctorum, seven floors height dome (Rajagopuram), stage for marriages, dormitories,, Sri Ganapati, Lakshmi and Saraswati temples, Nava Shanti Temple. These temples have been constructed in tune with the artistic and architectural standards. Every year, navaratri festival is celebrated in a big way with faith and fervor.
To worship to the Goddess includes Abhishekam, Suprabhata Seva, Maha Vidya Parayanam, Kumkumarachana, Abhishekam Utsav Idol ad various alankaranas in the night, the Utsavam Murti’s processions and Pavalimpu Sevas are conduced with utmost care and devotion. On Fridays, special Abhisekhams are performed. Every year, annual chariot festival- Rathotsavam is celebrated starting from Maga Sudda Panchami to Saptami day. Also on the eve of Ratha Saptami, a colorful and glorifying procession is organized.
During this year, Rathotsavam from February 2 to 4 has geared up on a large scale to conduct the festival.
