Dattatreya was born to the couples of Atri and Anusuya. He is the first man for starting Avadhoota Sampradayam. Dattatreya incarnation is a permanent one. He will bless the natives who offer prayers to Dattatreya. On this auspicious day, devotees will undergo fasting and perform pujas to Him. They offer Swayampakam to Brahmin's (Rice, dal, etc.,). Devotees will parayana of Sri Gurucharitra . Those who sincerely offer prayers will get the blessings of Dattatreya. According to ancient texts, delayed marriages, childlessness, abortion, misery etc., are some of the problems which can be removed by reciting 'Sri Gurudeva Datta' regularly at least one hour of minor problems and if severe, they have to recite at lest four hours japa. Those who perform nama japa on the day of Datta Jayanti, it gives one thousand times more benefits.
