Lord Ganesh

Lord Ganesh is son of Lord Shiva and Parvati. He is the first amongst the Gods to receive prayers from man kind. He is believed to the facilator to any human activity at all times without any hindrances. Needless to say, He is the first god being prayed for, during any occasion. He is the God of wisdom, prudence and prosperity and is responsible for removal of sorrows.

Lord Ganesha is known by various names viz., Ganapati, Vinayaka, Heramba, Ekadanda, Gajaanan, Vigneshwara etc., It is believed that Maharshi Ved Vyas dictated the slokas of the great epic, Mahabharata, at such a high speed that only Lord Ganesh could record them on the palm leaves. Worshipping of the Lord Ganesh takes place since Vedic times. No activity takes place without initially invoking the great name of Lord Ganesh.
