New Year

New Year is an annual festival celebrated across the globe on the 1st January with great social fervor. It marks the end of old and the beginning of the new. Actually, the celebrations for the New Year start right from Christmas Eve ie., December 24 and continue up to January 1 of the New Year. This day is celebrated primarily by the urban upper and middle class people.

It is generally a time of get together and enjoyment. In some metros, hordes to people gather in public places to welcome the New Year. In a multicultural, multi religious country like India, this is one celebration that seems to break all boundaries. It is most probably the only day when religion does not matter. Greetings and good wishes are generously exchanged, sweets are distributed and everybody is wished a 'Happy New Year.
